This conference is just one of a number of events that APIEM is organising in 2021 and I hope that you will have the opportunity to join with us at another event that we are organising in the Asia Pacific region. Each event has a distinct theme and they have all been designed to contribute to the professionalisation of the events/MICE industry. All the papers that are presented at our events will be published (subject to the approval of journal`s editorial board) and as such will develop further the subject body of knowledge in events/MICE.

Professor David Hind
President
Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management
On behalf of Taylor’s University Malaysia and the School of Hospitality, Tourism, and Events (SHTE), we
are delighted to welcome you to the 2nd Asia Pacific Virtual Events Conference 2021 (AVEC2). It is a real pleasure partnering with the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM) again this year and being part of this meaningful event for educationists and practitioners in the field of events management.

It is also a wonderful pleasure to have the opportunity to co-host the second virtual event conference in
collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This public-private partnership is a good effort to
increase the contributions to the events management academic discipline.

The organization of the first AVEC was extremely successful with the participation of 1200 delegates from 40 companies and institutions from over 19 countries such as Australia, England, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Latvia, Taiwan, United Kingdom, India, and others. With the success of
the 1 st AVEC held in 2020, Taylor’s University believes that virtual events conferences have become a
new platform for researchers around the world to share ideas and further enhance collaborations in the field of events. This conference will be useful for the future of the event industry and will provide a valuable experience for both participants and organizers of AVEC 2021.

Furthermore, I also wish to take this opportunity to highlight Taylor’s University’s continuous commitment to reinforce connections between the industry, academics, and students. It is an honor to see the progress of AVEC 2021, and the strengthened relationship established between SHTE, APIEM, and UiTM. Once again, we would like to express our gratitude to APIEM, especially to the President, Professor David Hind for inviting our team, comprising of academics and Bachelor’s Degree students from the Events Management program, to be part of AVEC 2021.
